We are calling this game "Signal and Cipher". If you are familiar with "CodeNames", it is very similar.

You can play in the same room, or across the Internet (but maybe open a voice call or web meeting to share the experience).

Best way: open the page on your TV (or a larger screen) and the "Spymaster" for each team to use a tablet or mobile phone

How to Play

  1. Choose a theme and create a game.
  2. Divide everyone into Red and Blue teams.
  3. Assign one Spymaster to each team. The Spymaster will be able to see which tiles are secretely Blue or Red. The Spymaster will give a 1-word clue to their team members (operatives) to try and guess which tiles are the best match to that word.
--Spymasters: Make sure to carefully choose your clue word as to not have your operatives perhaps guess unrelated cards. It's better to get only 1 or 2 more exact matches then trying to net a bunch of cards at once. Everyone else, that is not a Spymaster, plays as an Operative.
  4. Have players scan the appropriate QR code to join. Spymasters must use their team's private QR code.
  5. The active Spymaster gives a one-word clue and a number. The number indicates how many cards relate to the clue.
  6. Operatives select cards they believe match the clue. A wrong card immediately ends the turn. (so start with your safest guesses first)
Find all of your team's agents before the other team - but avoid the Assassin.
Revealing the Assassin immediately loses the game.
